The full AVAZ board meets six to eight times a year. The board has two standing committees: artistic and planning. The planning committee consists of the president, Anthony Shay and Jamal. This committee formulates the annual budget and plans which projects that AVAZ will seek funding for in the coming year. This committee also evaluates the success or failure of each project which the company undertakes. It meets once a month.
The artistic committee consists of artistic directors, Anthony Shay and Jamal, and Mohammad Nejad, the musical director. This committee meets after each performancae, and after the performing season to evaluate the artistic success or failure of each new work as well as evaluate the performance levels of the ensemble. This committee funnels information to the planning committtee to aid them in planning budget requests. |
